Fuel will be cheaper by five to six cents per liter

From Wednesday, April 13, 2026, all types of petroleum products in Montenegro will be cheaper by five to six cents per liter. This information was communicated by the Association of Oil Companies of Montenegro (UNKCG).

According to UNKCG, the price of Eurodiesel is expected to drop by five to six cents, while gasoline could become cheaper by four to five cents. Fuel oil should be cheaper by seven to eight cents per liter.

Current fuel prices are EUR 1.78 for Eurodiesel, EUR 1.59 for Eurosuper 95, EUR 1.63 for Eurosuper 98, while heating oil costs EUR 1.95 per liter. These prices are not final, as they refer to three of the four days included in the calculation.

The drop in fuel prices is the result of a temporary truce between Iran and the United States of America. The downward trend in prices is expected to continue if the situation in the Middle East stabilizes.

Since the second half of March, fuel prices have been calculated every week, which means that the eventual decline could continue in the following period. Experts, however, warn that the relief may be short-lived.

Economist Bojan Ivanc points out that real oil delivery prices are still significantly higher than stock prices, and that the effects of disruptions in supply and higher prices will only be felt in the next month or two. Oil tankers have not yet returned to their usual routes, which may affect future prices.

In the previous period, fuel prices rose significantly. Namely, since March 9, Eurodiesel has risen in price by a total of 44 cents in a month, which represents an increase of about 33 percent. This growth was partially mitigated by the government's reduction in excise duty, which reduced excise duty to 50 percent, which led to a reduction in the price of diesel by 27 cents per liter.

The government also reduced excise duties on gasoline, which resulted in a price reduction of about 16 to 17 cents per liter. However, the excise duty on heating oil was not reduced, which led to the fact that this type of petroleum product reached a price of EUR 1.95 per liter.

The drop in oil prices on world markets followed the agreement on a temporary ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. This agreement enabled the temporary opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which further contributed to the reduction of oil and natural gas prices.

Although oil prices have fallen on the world market, analysts warn that a long-term reduction in prices cannot be expected. According to Bojan Ivanac, the difference between financial markets and the real economy can lead to further disruptions in supply.

In the coming weeks, the downward trend in prices is expected to continue, provided that the situation in the Middle East stabilizes. However, experts stress that a possible rise in prices could follow if there are new tensions or disruptions in supply.
